Commisioner Visit to Chittoor District

Commissioner and Director of Agriculture have visited Chittoor District from 8-8-2011 to 10-8-2011. Conducted review meeting with officials of the department and taken up field inspections. Discussed agricultural scenario with district administration.

Early Season Drought in Rainfed ground nut.

In Kharif 2011 rains required for taking sowing in rain fed ground nut effected due to prolonged dry spells from 2nd week of June to 2nd week of July. 50% Sowing could be taken up during that period. Senior Officials from the o/o Commissionarate of Agriculture , Hyderabad have visited the leftover areas and suggested contingency plans for days to come with good rains
