Though Neelam cyclone brings rain fall off late. Due to acute shortage of power and water in the state, Department of Agriculture and Scientists from ANGRAU working hand in hand for the promotion of ID crops and sensitization of farmers in that direction. Even our state receives normal rainfall, lack of sufficient rainfall in catchment  areas of Krishna , Godavari basins our reservoirs have not filled and causing  cascading effect on power and ground water situation in our state. Promotion of ID crops instead of paddy not only gives good returns but also saves water and power. If paddy is inevitable agronomic practices like direct sowing, SRI promotion, drum seed sowing looking as promising alternatives. Shift in sizable crop diversification is the need of the hour. Department of power, irrigation and extension machinery in the department of  agriculture will have to strive hard to send the loud message to farming community.
